Half-timbered houses are a special building method, not only in terms of history and appearance. For the renovation of this timber-framed house in eastern Switzerland, VDE is taking highly precise as-built photos using 3D laser scanning and modeling exact planning bases in 2D.

For a sustainable renovation, the first step is to expose, assess and repair the timber frame. In order to preserve the exterior façade, which often results from the requirements of historic preservation, the half-timbered house is provided with interior insulation.
