As part of the further development of Basel SBB station, the existing station concourse and adjacent areas were precisely recorded using 3D laser scanning. The busy station is one of the most important transportation hubs in Switzerland and handles large flows of passengers every day. Accordingly, a reliable as-built basis is crucial for conversion and renovation work.
The Passerelle was fully surveyed on site using modern laser scanners. This resulted in a high-resolution point cloud that precisely depicts the geometry of the existing structure.
A structured 3D CAD as-built model was then created on the basis of this data. The model digitally depicts the existing infrastructure and serves as a precise basis for planning, coordination and further interventions as part of the ongoing development of the station.
