The SBB Biasca Locomotive Depot A glimpse into the past and a step into the future.

When the Ticino Valley Railways began operations in 1874, the Biasca Locomotive Depot opened its doors and wrote an important chapter in the history of the Swiss railways.

But with progress came change: The introduction of electric operations led to a gradual reduction in activities at Biasca, until the depot was finally closed in 1990. Despite these changes, the buildings were preserved and repurposed.

Today, we have the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between the past and the future using state-of-the-art laser scanning technology. In doing so, we are supporting SBB with a 3D as-built model to preserve these valuable artifacts of Swiss railway history while simultaneously laying the groundwork for integrating them into the present.
