Swiss painter and sculptor Martin Disler created a group of 66 life-size bronze figures through an intensive creative process. With its exhibition at the time, the Kirchner Museum Davos offered visitors the extraordinary opportunity to experience the sculptures in person.
Thirty years later, together with HEGIAS AG – building imagination – we had the opportunity to bring these sculptures, considered the pinnacle of his sculptural work, into the virtual world.
To this end, VDE – Villa Digital Engineering AG used 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry to measure and photograph the sculptures with high precision. In the next step, VR-compatible 3D models of the sculptures were created from thousands of data points and are now available in the HEGIAS VR library.
This allows the sculptures—originally on view in Davos through November 7, 2021—to be viewed worldwide even after the physical exhibition has ended: from anywhere in the world, at one’s own pace and in detail. This is made possible by virtual reality, jointly implemented by VDE and HEGIAS VR.
