Intergeo Frankfurt 2025 – Technology, Team Spirit, and a Serving of Pork Knuckle
Once a year, the world of surveying, geoinformation, and digitalization comes together at Intergeo, and in 2025 it was that time again: Frankfurt became the meeting place for tech enthusiasts, engineers, software developers, and visionaries from all over the world. Among them: Livio Villa, João Sanches, and Mirella.
A few days filled with technology, networking, inspiration, and, of course, a hearty serving of pork knuckle and apple wine.
Frankfurt welcomed us with its impressive skyline and typical Hessian warmth. Between technical presentations, exhibitions, and technology demos, there was also time to enjoy the city, but the focus was clearly on Intergeo, the world’s leading trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation, and land management.
Around 600 exhibitors from over 40 countries showcased their innovations, ranging from compact handheld scanners to high-precision systems for aerial data collection. It was particularly exciting to see how much scanner technologies and software solutions have advanced in recent years. Systems that used to be usable only on the ground are now mounted on drones, vehicles, or even airplanes and capture entire cities from the air with millimeter precision.
The future of surveying is mobile, connected, and intelligent. What used to take hours or days in the field is now accomplished by automated systems in a fraction of the time: Drone scanners autonomously fly complex missions, mobile mapping systems capture entire streetscapes as they pass by, and AI-based software transforms point clouds into 3D models, plans, or digital twins almost in real time.
For us as 3D surveying and BIM specialists, it was fascinating to see how technologies and workflows are rapidly evolving—and how many new opportunities this creates.
Amid all the technology, team spirit was not neglected either. Walking through the exhibition halls together, discussing, marveling, and enjoying a Hessian specialty now and then—that’s what brings us together.
Frankfurt showed us that innovation doesn’t just happen in the lab, but wherever people with passion, curiosity, and experience come together.
Conclusion
After three intense days filled with technology, conversations, and new ideas, we returned to Switzerland, recharged with inspiration (and a little apple wine).
A heartfelt thank you to VDE – Villa Digital Engineering AG for letting me be a part of it!
