Intergeo Frankfurt 2025 – Technology, Team Spirit and a Touch of Pork Knuckle
Once a year, the world of surveying, geoinformation and digital innovation comes together at Intergeo and 2025 was no exception. Frankfurt became the meeting point for tech enthusiasts, engineers, software developers and visionaries from all over the world. Joining the event: Livio Villa, João Sanches, and myself.
A few days filled with technology, exchange, inspiration – and, of course, a generous serving of pork knuckle and apple wine.
Frankfurt welcomed us with its impressive skyline and typical Hessian hospitality. Between expert talks, exhibitions and live technology demos, there was even time to enjoy the city – but the main focus was clearly the Intergeo, the world’s leading trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management.
Around 600 exhibitors from over 40 countries presented their innovations – from compact handheld scanners to high-precision airborne LiDAR systems.
It was especially exciting to see how much scanning technologies and software solutions have evolved in recent years.
Systems that once operated only on the ground are now mounted on drones, vehicles, or even aircraft, capturing entire cities with millimetre precision from above.
The Future of Surveying Is Mobile, Connected and Intelligent
What used to take hours or even days in the field can now be accomplished in a fraction of the time thanks to automation.
Drone-based scanners fly complex missions autonomously, avoiding obstacles and collecting georeferenced point clouds with incredible precision.
Mobile mapping systems capture entire streets while driving by, and AI-powered software transforms point clouds into 3D models, plans, or digital twins almost in real time.
For us as 3D surveying and BIM specialists, it’s truly fascinating to witness how rapidly technologies and workflows are evolving – and how many new possibilities they create for our daily work.
Amidst all the innovation, there was plenty of team spirit too.
Walking through the halls together, discussing, discovering, and occasionally enjoying a local delicacy – that’s what makes such events special.
Frankfurt reminded us that innovation doesn’t just happen in the lab, but wherever people come together with curiosity, passion and experience.
Conclusion
After three inspiring days full of technology, conversations and new ideas, we returned to Switzerland energized, inspired – and maybe with a bit of apple wine still in our system.
A heartfelt thank you to VDE – Villa Digital Engineering AG for the opportunity to be part of it!
