Existing Model of Barn Use | Duvin GR

When you take a leisurely stroll through the center of Duvin, it feels as if you’re taking a walk through the past. The carefully maintained houses and a few small farm shops, from which the aroma of fresh local specialties wafts, reflect the charm of this Graubünden village.

However, not everything is quite as romantic as it seems at first glance. Unfortunately, many of the barns in the area are no longer in active use and are battling the passage of time and change.

In the past, hay was stored in these barns. Anyone who has walked through rural areas these days has surely seen those round, colorful hay bales wrapped in plastic. These can be stored outdoors, making the old barns unnecessary.

Local efforts are underway to support the villages in their development and to preserve or repurpose these historic buildings. I’m personally very pleased that we can play a part in this through our work.

Every wooden beam is important in the renovation of this barn, which is why we’ve modeled each individual beam precisely and in its actual form. The digital 3D as-built model simplifies the planning process, as the current condition is available directly in CAD format and can be used for further modifications.

Now the barn is being given a new lease on life, and we’re grateful that the basic structure and the village’s character are being preserved.
