3D Digitization Based on Existing Blueprints | Margarethen Artificial Ice Rink, Basel

The Margarethen Artificial Ice Rink in Margarethenpark, located on the southern edge of the Gundeldingen neighborhood, is a historic ice rink that was originally built around 1933. Over time, the facility has evolved, and today it features three ice rinks, one of which is covered.

As part of the planned minimal renovation and reorientation of this popular facility toward school sports and public ice skating, it was decided to use an efficient planning tool. To make the architectural team’s work easier, we digitized the existing 2D plans into a precise 3D model.

Using a 3D model offers numerous advantages for efficient renovation planning. It enables the architectural team to simulate various scenarios, identify potential challenges early on, and make informed decisions.
