As-Built Model of a Historic Vineyard Building | Wiesendangen, ZH

This unassuming building nestled amid the vineyards of Wiesendangen could easily be overlooked, but as soon as you open the gates, you’ll be surprised by wondrous discoveries. An impressive wine press takes up almost the entire ground floor, and the exquisite craftsmanship of the wooden beams and the roof structure is a testament to masterful craftsmanship.

VDE was commissioned to capture the building using state-of-the-art 3D laser scanning technology. Millions of points were merged to capture every detail.

From these points, a precise 3D model was created, illustrating the process from the existing structure through the point cloud to the as-built model. The images in this case study are a testament to the modern, technological—yet still artisanal—nature of building surveying services.
