Wooden-Frame Renovation Architecture Competition | Wagenareal, Schaffhausen

As part of a renovation project at the Wagenareal in Schaffhausen, a timber-frame building is to undergo comprehensive restoration. As part of an architectural competition, we at VDE are developing precise design specifications to create a solid foundation for the subsequent implementation.

The building has not received adequate maintenance for many decades, causing the ravages of time to take their toll on the timber-frame structure. However, we are confident that the comprehensive renovation will preserve the building’s historic character. Although the building is not a listed historic structure, the historic preservation authorities are being involved in the planning process and will be present on-site during the building survey.

The level of detail for the plans was further discussed on-site to ensure that we can address the client’s exact needs and guarantee a successful implementation.
